Links & Search Engine (Google) Indexing

Search engines, especially Google, lay a lot of emphasis on links....inbound links, outbound links, internal links, etc....Google has always been one of the goals for every link builder to keep on working :) .....In it's latest index update, the search engine giant clearly bets on links while evaluating a website....

The number of inbound links to your site v/s the number of outbound links from your site, the quality of sites that you link to and that link to you, the relevance of the sites you exchange links with, your own internal links from within the site and a hell lot of factors are taken into consideration while evaluating a website. Matt Cutts, in his indexing timeline post, writes about the latest index update in detail...This is written after receiving a number of "complaints", "feedback" n "queries" from ppl raising the issue of their sites being dropped out of Google's index.....

Lately, there are many who are getting worried about their pages either being removed or moved to the "supplemental index" of Google....however, i believe in his post, Matt has clarified the issues to the extent possible...in the best understandable words......and self-explanatory examples...

Be it the real estate sites' examples or the example of oompa loompa dating service he mentions in his comment on "nofollow tag", you instantly get the point he is communicating..and though his disclaimer clearly states that these are his personal views and not officially those of Google, i believe ppl, especially the concerned ppl, are aware that on the web, a comment from an "authority" means a lot :)....

All these points surely make you believe that links are one of the most important optimization features....if you are one of those serious SEOs, you are not going to neglect links...neither the quality of links nor the quantity....Relevancy and quality should be the base of any n all link popularity campaigns.....once you have good links in place with decent content on your site, there are not many reasons why your site should not be in the search engine giant's index...or even it's rankings for that matter......

And it is not only Google that is updating its index...Yahoo! too has updated its index yesterday and this post on Yahoo! search blog confirms the update....though comments on this update will take some time to flow in, the first comment mentions the presence of wikipedia, amazon and technorati pages on page one listings...however, overall it mentions this update as "just a shifting of the deck"!...

Blogs - Varied, Interesting & Personal

Why does one write? What does on write on her/his blog? When? How much?

A lot of questions when you think about blogs...a hellllll lot of blogs exist today...people cry, laugh at, bring out emotions, kick each others' a**es and do whatever comes to their mind with/on their blogs...It could be a way for social networking, business networking, maintaining personal relations and much much much more....just a few minutes of brainstorming on blogs raises so many questions/issues/topics that can be discussed....was surfing around for blogs where people talk about "life" - it could be their own life or life as general...Below mentioned are the blogs that got me interested...

Megha's Blog - quite impressive, really interesting and written from heart (more from mind, i would say :)). A lot of effort goes behind developing and maintaing such a splendid blog/website....kudos to her...

Nirvana - Good poems.....emotions/sentiments well expressed using great words....

And then there's anthonysmirror - Now this one caught my eye, coz it seems I share some of his interests - blogs, search engines, money ( ;) ), etc etc etc....few interesting posts on blogs and some great links to other blogs makes this one a kewwwl read.....

Classic Cartoons - I wud not comment much on this one..the blog's note says it all - "This blog is intented to support the love and rediscovery of Classic Theatrical Cartoons from the Golden Age of Animation but with an eye on modern productions as well as on tv animation! Every SUPPRESSED ethnic caricature to be sometimes presented here is just for HISTORICAL and EDUCATIONAL purpose and NOT to offend anyone. Stay Tooned and Enjoy the blog"

Then theres someone who says - It is a numeric life - its all about numbers..n u get to see/read that in the posts on this blog...any and (almost) every topic/post gives you "numerical" figures....be it about women's creativity over men or top 10 most spoken languages in the world - its all about numbers....

And I would say this one definitely takes an edge for movie fanatics - Random Thoughts of a Demented Mind - Now how does one beat the designing of this blog/site? Amazing read of Arnab's personal opinions on movies....and being a gujju myself, I njoyed the 1-900-hotties post the most....a real kewwwwwwwwwl one

Keep going guys n gals....its great to read through your blogs/websites and get a change from the regular work stuff...

cheers
